健康長寿で知られる地中海式ダイエット。 その一つが日本でもおなじみの野菜・きゅうりです。
きゅうり (Cucumis sativus L.) はおそらくインド原産で、世界でも人気のある栽培植物であり、伝統生薬としても広く使用されています。
きゅうりには、抗炎症作用を持ち、軟骨の栄養を改善するL-シトルリンやイミノ糖などのアミノ酸誘導体が含まれています[1、2、3、4、5、6]。
さらにきゅうりの水性抽出物にはフラボノイドやタンニンが含まれ、フリーラジカル除去効果と鎮痛効果に関与している可能性があることが示唆されています[7]。
